COLLABORATIONS

We love collaborating because that’s what community is all about. You have something to say, and we want to support you with a space to voice it.

Whether we signpost you to our friends at In2Beats Radio, or other local businesses - and the amazing people we know fighting the good fight to make a positive impact, or we all come together to help you, drop us a line to see how we might be able to work together.

We're thrilled to already have the following friendships:

Bedford Creative Arts and POP Bedford

In Summer Bedford Creative Arts and POP Bedford launched an initiative for local artists to brighten the disused shop fronts in the town, and hold community workshops at the POP headquarters on Silver Street. Local Estate agents Kirby Diamond have come on board, along with a number of local businesses to offer their shop front as a gallery.  We are thrilled to be part of this vibrant plan.

With the all important acoustic wall in place for our studio, we’ve turned over the space in front of it to Elaine Midgely (BCA), Talia Giles (POP Bedford) and their artists, and will be celebrating local arts here on our site, and in our shop front.

To showcase your work in our studio gallery front, please email studio@wellbeingmedia.org or  visit https://bedfordcreativearts.org.uk

ARTIST CURRENTLY IN RESIDENCE
Luanna Flammia

I have been an artist for over 10 years selling privately and through a gallery, also exhibiting regularly at the Affordable Art Fairs, and ofcourse my favourite market Bedford Flea. I graduated form the University of Westminster and in my final year I was selected to display my artwork in corporate firm Traver Smiths in St Pauls London, later my artwork was auctioned. I then became an art consultant on the Kings road, Chelsea at 508 Gallery. I curated exhibitions including a solo show for swingy sixties star Molly Parkin.

After moving back home from London, my mum became ill and was diagnosed with Cancer. I teamed up with the Lewis Foundation, who provide support packs for patients undergoing chemotherapy. I raised over £1000 selling A4 paintings on paper. Lockdown was especially difficult having to look after mum, here is where my art became my therapy and a coping mechanism for my mental health, in an uncertain time this really helped me focus and develop my signature style.

Over the last year I have supplied art prints to retailers such as HomeSense, Walmart and Very. I have exhibited in solo art fairs such as Manchester Art Fair and Harrogate Art Fair.

Artistically,I am deeply inspired by Romanticism in my paintings, especially the Hudson River Artists where the collective group would paint by the Hudson River looking out onto the trees and landscape. In my paintings I try to depict the perspective of looking through and beyond nature, and continuously layering with mixed media. I also embellish 24ct gold and silver leaf throughout the layering process.

Pre-Covid travels have inspired my colour pallet, each stroke can be compared to the depths of the Black Forest, Germany. The vibrancy of the pigments are reminiscent of colourful North and Southern India, as well as Swiss influences of mediaeval architecture and Fresco paintings from a small town, Stein en Rein.
